COVID-19 Updates

Dear Church Family,

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to see everyone at church this Sunday. I have been
looking forward to this day for so long!

I am going to be continuing our Sermon Series, “He’s Been Getting Us Ready for This!” by
looking back at 2017’s Series on “Simple: Giving Up the Good for the Great.” I believe God has
allowed us to be slowed down for some good reasons, and I don’t want us to miss out on them.

While I hope you can make it, I do understand that not everyone is able to attend a public
Worship Gathering yet. If you aren’t feeling well or are immunocompromised, please stay home.
Your wellbeing is fundamental to me! If you do need to stay home, you can still participate in
our Online Worship Gathering on Facebook or YouTube.

If you can attend, please know that we have been working hard at keeping everyone as safe as
possible. This includes sanitizing the facility, spacing out seating in the sanctuary, providing
hand sanitizer pumps throughout the building, closing off the downstairs, and asking people to
refrain from personal contact, including handshaking and hugs (this will be really hard for me!).

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer our Breakout Kids, Apple Chapel, and Nursery Ministries
for a while longer. This, however, doesn’t mean we aren’t working on ways to minister to
children. Pastors Stephen and Tammy are setting up a table in the Connect Room with a treat bag
for all our kids. Make sure you stop by and say hello!

Be sure to look for me on the side of the road Sunday morning as I will be waving hello and
welcoming everyone into the church parking lot; honk your horn to give me a shout out!

With Great Enthusiasm!
Pastor Chriss

Dear New Life Church Family,

I am amazed at how quickly things can change not only from day to day but hour to hour. With the Governor placing us on a "stay in place" order yesterday, as well as the reporting of our first known COVID-19 case in Lake County, things are quickly evolving.

Because of these changes, we are going to be limiting the church's "in office" hours. Our goal is to have at least two staff members in the building Monday through Thursday, from 9am to 3pm. The rest of the team will be working from home to help limit their exposure and protect their families. Rest assured, whether we are at home or in the office, we will continue to lift you up in our prayers and will work hard at reaching out every family in our church as much as we possibly can.

For those of you who are already beginning to feel the effects of the slowing economy, please know we really do care! We have already begun looking for ways to work with our community of churches and other charitable organizations to help those in need.

Because of your faithful giving of tithes and offerings, you are providing the avenue for us to continue ministering to and serving those in our church family, community, and missionaries around the world.

While these changes have caused us to shake up the way we worship and fellowship together, it hasn’t changed the fact that we are still the church! We will continue to Livestream our Worship Gatherings on Facebook and YouTube every Sunday morning at 10am. You won’t want to miss this Sunday's message where I will be preaching on the second part of my message "Don't Be Afraid, Be the Church," where we will talk about what it means to be the church in difficult times like these.

If you need prayer or just someone to talk to, please feel free to email us at or call us at 406-883-2447.

The team and I love each and every one of you very much; we are here to serve you!

Living by Faith Not by Fear,

Dear New Life Church Family,

It’s hard to believe how much has changed since the last update I sent out just three days ago. Just recently, the CDC is asking people not to participate in groups larger than ten people until the end of March to help curtail the spreading of the virus.

Because of these recommendations, we are moving Sunday Worship Gatherings to Facebook live streaming for the next two weeks of March. We will continue to worship the Lord through song, prayer, and preaching. The Holy Spirit has been leading me to preach on Deut. 31:6, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid, and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you" with the message, “Don’t Be Afraid, Be the Church!” Pastor Stephen will also be speaking to our kids, so we ask that your whole family gather together and worship online with us at home.

In addition to our Worship Gathering changes, we are postponing all Life Groups, Discovery Groups, and any other church-related functions until April 1st. We will then reevaluate and make changes as necessary. We are, however, continuing to hold regular office hours for the time being. Please do not hesitate to call, email, or just stop by (if you are not sick) with any prayer requests or needs.

In the meantime, we will continue to update you via social media, weekly email newsletter, website, and our church app. If you need help in setting up Facebook Live, please let us know. Remember, while our methods may be changing, for the time being, our faith never will.

 Dear New Life Church Family,

With the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continuing to make headlines, we want you to be assured that we have been closely monitoring the situation and are working hard to provide a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for our people to fellowship and worship the Lord. While we realize that no environment is 100% secure, we are taking several precautionary measures to protect our church family. This includes regular cleaning and sanitizing of all restrooms, children’s classrooms and toys, highly utilized surfaces, doorknobs, handles, water faucets, handrails, etc. throughout the building.

Based on recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), we are asking the following people to…

  • Consider Staying Home During this Time
    • Anyone who has visited an area with widespread or ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice) within the past two weeks. Up to date information on Travel Health Notices can be found at
    • Anyone who has been exposed to someone who has visited an area with widespread or ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice) within the past two weeks.
    • Anyone who has been exposed to someone who is sick with cold or flu-like symptoms within the past two weeks.
    • Older adults.
    • People who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart and lung disease.
  • Stay Home During this Time
    • Anyone who is sick with cold or flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness), or vomiting.

For those who are not able to attend, we are going to begin broadcasting our Worship Gatherings on Facebook Live at You can also listen to current and past messages, keep up with current news and events, and give online at or on our church app. Another way to give is by mailing in your checks to the church office at 1414 2nd St W., Polson, MT. 59860.

In the meantime, we encourage you to follow the CDC's everyday precautionary guidelines.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, throw the tissue in the trash, and then wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

We are continuing to monitor the quickly changing situation via the CDC and local health organizations. We will be sure to update you should there be any changes or cancellations of our Worship Gatherings, office hours, small groups, or other related church events. You can also call the church office at 406-883-2447 during regular business hours if you have any other questions or concerns. Meanwhile, we encourage everyone to continue smiling and being friendly, but avoid bodily contact including shaking hands and hugs. Remember, good handwashing practices will go a long way to help prevent spreading the virus.

Please know that our heart's desire isn't to exclude or isolate anyone throughout this tough situation. Conversely, we plan to continue following Christ's example by praying for the sick, comforting the brokenhearted, helping those in need, and demonstrating agape love towards one another. We would ask that everyone in our church family do the same. Should you need prayer or have other worries or concerns, our pastoral staff is here for you! Please don’t hesitate to call the church or email us at

As Believers, we are called to live by faith and not by fear. This is why we can stand on the words of Psalm 91:9-11, “If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.”

Safely in the Palm of His Hand,

Pastor Chriss Sopke Sr. and the NLC Leadership Team
